About Us

Our Vision

Our vision is to see people throughout our region, our nation, and the nations of the world encounter Jesus, find healing, and discover their God-given purpose.

Guidance

We are a presence driven church, guided by God’s Word, led by the Holy Spirit, and shaped by the love of Jesus. His presence is at the heart of all we do as we worship, serve people, and follow His purpose together.

Mission

Our mission is to demonstrate the gospel to everyone, everywhere, every day by sharing the love of Jesus in word and action, restoring people, reclaiming identity in Christ, and releasing purpose through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Josh Pickett

Pastor Josh has served in ministry for over 20 years as an evangelist, youth pastor, and lead pastor. Through every season, his heart has remained the same: to help people encounter God, experience the transforming power of the gospel, and discover who they were created to be.

He is passionate about people and believes everyone needs a place where they are known, loved, and encouraged to grow. Whether he is preaching, sharing a conversation, or walking alongside someone through a difficult season, his desire is to see lives restored, identities reclaimed, and purpose released.

Pastor Josh is passionate about helping people encounter the Holy Spirit and experience God’s presence for themselves. He believes the gifts of the Spirit are for today, miracles still happen, and God continues to heal, speak, and work in the lives of His people. His Pentecostal faith shapes both his preaching and his expectation that the Holy Spirit empowers believers to serve, share the gospel, and live boldly for Jesus. He desires to see people grow in their sensitivity to the Spirit and use their gifts to strengthen the church and reach others with the love of Christ.

His preaching reflects a conviction that the message of Jesus is good news that changes how we live. He desires to help people grow in a real relationship with God, rooted in grace and expressed through a life of freedom, faith, and purpose.

Pastor Josh also loves to train and develop leaders. He finds great joy in helping people recognize their gifts, grow in confidence, and take meaningful steps in their calling. Mentoring young ministers and equipping others to serve are central to his heart for ministry.

He is a proud husband to his wife, Sommer, and a grateful dad to their four children: Ian, Leeland, Kendall, and Asher. He enjoys following all things University of Tennessee, traveling, reading, writing, and spending time with his family. He is an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN).

This is What We Believe

Declaration of Faith

MCOG believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. We are affiliated with The Church of God (Cleveland, TN), who has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

We Believe:

  • In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
  • In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
  • Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
  • In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.  In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
  • In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.  Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
  • In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.  In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
  • In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
